Niamh Herlihy and Alexandra Duane were the CDPC's first Irish trainees and graduates of NUI Maynooth's MSc in Immunology and Global Health. They trained under the supervision of Dr John Waitumbi at the Kenya Medical Research Institute/The Walter Reed Project in Kisumu, Kenya, from June to August 2008.
